sunflowers thrive in the sunlight.
In fact, sunflowers crave the light so deeply that they twist and turn to follow the sun across the sky, their faces always seeking warmth. But what happens when the sun is hidden behind clouds and the day turns dark? You might expect them to wither — yet they don’t. In one of nature’s most beautiful acts of resilience, the sunflower rebels against the darkness and continues to reach for the light.
We’re not so different. Sometimes we lose touch with that spark of wildness that makes us feel alive, and life begins to feel heavy and dim. We start to believe we’re not enough — that something about us, especially our bodies, is broken or unworthy. In our desperation to feel better, we chase quick fixes, rigid control, or the approval of others, forgetting that the light we’re searching for is already ours.
This is where the work at Rebelliously Thriving Counseling and Coaching Services begins. Whether you feel consumed by body-focused thoughts and emotions or simply sense that your relationship with your body could be gentler, I can help. Together, we’ll face and rebel against the forces that distort body image, nurture your ability to thrive, and most importantly, help you chase — and harness — your inner light.

About Whitney
My therapeutic approach is open, honest, and grounded in real connection. I’ve been told I have a knack for compassionately calling out the BS — and I take that as a compliment. I show up as both a human and a clinician, without emphasizing a professional power hierarchy.

I’m a strong advocate for body liberation, racial justice, LGBTQ+ equality, and human rights more broadly. My work is rooted in affirming care and an unwavering belief in each person’s right to autonomy and dignity.

I use she/her/hers pronouns and strive to create a space where all identities and bodies are welcomed, respected, and celebrated.

I provide individual and group sessions using a combination of open-ended listening, empathic attention, creative interventions, and experiential guidance in specific skills to help you strengthen and heal your relationship with your body.

My practice is rooted in a weight-inclusive, harm reduction, and anti-carceral framework. This means you will never be judged or pathologized for your body size, coping behaviors, or survival strategies. I recognize the role of weight stigma, fat phobia, and punitive systems of control as major barriers to receiving respectful, appropriate, and bias-free care — and I actively work to challenge those forces within the therapeutic space.

Together, we’ll focus on cultivating connection, compassion, and agency, supporting your right to define healing on your own terms.
